So, I get to talk a little bit about myself now. I can just hear all the groans and grumbles. I'll try to keep this brief.
I'm a graduate student, and I live at home with my parents and younger brother (I'm trying to get a pet, but my family isn't too keen on the idea). I work part-time as a laboratory teaching assistant. I am looking to becoming a college professor, though my dad is still stuck on me being a doctor. My room, once solely dedicated to anime, is full of LoTR posters save for one PoTC one I got free at DisneyWorld. I am largely a LoTR fan and collect all sorts of replicas from the film and anything that has the terms 'elf,' 'elvish' or 'elven' (yes, I know, I'm a freak). I'm single, unattached and not all that interested in getting married, at the moment anyway (besides, I have this uncanny knack of attracting people emotionally unstable, not a good sign).
I've been into slash for a while now; being a female anime fan over the age of 18, it was almost certain I would get hooked into the genre of shonen-ai/yaoi/slash at some point. But I've only been slash writing since March 2003, and mostly Lord of the Rings elf slash. I have been drawing longer than writing, but you'll see less artwork as I view myself as inadequate as an artist. My friends protest otherwise, but the fact that I can't doodle to save my life and I've overly critical of my work work against me.
When I'm not studying, I spent a good chunk of my time planted in front of my laptop and either writing slash or cruising the net. Some of my favorite things to do are: check out eBay auction boards for doujinshi items, surf for LoTR and HP fan art or fanfics, take the annoying online quizzes (my answers are so predictable sometimes), answer e-mails and generally hang. I have AIM (see above) but I rarely chat unless a subject sparks my interests. I love doing online RPGs, either via e-mail or in a chatroom, but I haven't been involved in one for a while.
Some of my closest friends and acquaintances live in England, Australia and Japan, but one of my best friends lives in my home state and about two hours drive from my house. We get along well and have known each other for years despite a significant age gap. The girl has one flaw though: she is avidly, AVIDLY, convinced I am destined to marry Orlando Bloom. ::rolls eyes:: She keeps doing compatiablity charts on star signs and birthdates, keeps making me take LoTR online quizzes to see what my answers are (eight times out of ten the answer will be Legolas) and challenges me to see how many times I can get his voice to speak at the official LoTR homepage (record has been six times in ten minutes). She scares me at times.
